Who was Gustavus Vassa?
Isn't it curious that someone who owned a slave would name that person after a Swedish king, Gustavus the first, who expelled the Danes from Sweden and established Swedish independence? Was he called "Gus"? The name Vassa is hardly English sounding, so what would people have thought his name was. One theory suggests that he might have been called Weston.
